Key Insights Brief: Find out what’s actually wrong before you spend more on marketing
You know something needs to change. Maybe it’s the website, maybe it’s your message, maybe it’s how you’re reaching people. I tell you which, and what to do first.
The Key Insights Brief is where every project with me begins: one close look at your business, and a clear next step.
We’ll start with a conversation.
If the Key Insights Brief is the right next step, I’ll tell you.
Asking for more marketing is often a sign of something else.
Most clients come to me thinking they need more marketing, a new website or a rebrand. Sometimes that’s exactly what they need. But before we invest time and money, I want to make sure we’re solving the right problem.
That’s where the Key Insights Brief comes in. I study your business, listen to how you talk about your work, and find what is really in the way. Then create a clear plan so your time and budget go where they count.
A client’s board once asked for more marketing. When we looked closely, there were plenty of people who needed their services but too few volunteers to serve them. So that became our priority.
What the
Key Insights Brief is.
It has three parts.
01
The Conversation.
We begin with a focused 2-hour interview, the Conversation. We will talk about your business, your goals, your challenges and the opportunities you see ahead. I'll ask questions, listen closely and help uncover things you may be too close to your business to see.
02
The Walk-Through.
In about a week, you'll receive a clear, actionable plan tailored to your business. The Key Insights Brief will outline what's working, where there are gaps and what needs your attention first. No cookie-cutter recommendations. Just strategic guidance to help you make the most of your time and budget.
03
The Brief.
We'll review your Brief together, discuss my recommendations and answer your questions. You'll walk away knowing what to prioritize, why it matters and how to move forward with confidence.
What’s in your Brief.
Where you stand today, with what’s already working named first.
What’s holding you back, each with what to do about it.
Your ideas, made clearer: what came up in our conversation, shaped into words that work for the people you want to reach.
What to do first, and what comes after, in order.
After one of my first Key Insights Briefs, a client told me I’d taken everything in her head and turned it into something she never imagined - and exactly what she needed.
Is the Brief right for you?
This is for the leader of a purpose-driven business or nonprofit whose work is strong but whose story has fallen behind. People who hear about you can’t quite explain what you do. Your website describes the business you used to be. Or something big is coming, like a new program, a new location or a launch, and you want it to land. You may have been told you need more marketing, and you have no team to take it on.
If you only want someone to post on social media for you, or every decision needs a large committee before anything can move, I’m probably not the right fit. Not sure? Tell me what’s going on, and I’ll say so.
Clarity Backed by Expertise
-
Many branding firms hand you finished files and leave. A PR firm usually starts with outreach. I write your story first, then stay to get it in front of the right people.
-
Because what you ask for isn’t always what’s wrong. In about a week, the Brief finds out before you spend on the wrong fix. If we keep going, it becomes the plan for everything that follows.
-
That’s true of most of the people I work with. I interview you and your team myself, then put what you do into words the people you’re trying to reach understand. Translation is the work.
-
Nothing. Come with an open mind and be ready to talk openly about your business.
-
No. You leave with a Brief you own, whether we keep going together or you take it forward yourself.
-
Yes, fully. Everything you invest in the Brief is credited toward the work that follows.
