I helped decide who got funded. Now I help organizations
get funded.
I’m Elizabeth King, APR, and I help purpose-driven businesses and nonprofits tell their story clearly, then get it in front of the people who need to hear it.
My career began at the Tulsa Area United Way, surrounded by agencies doing important work. At Cox Communications, I started the employee-funded foundation and ran the council that decided where its money went. Since 2015, my own firm has helped organizations like those tell their stories and earn the support they deserve.
Both sides of the table.
The funder’s side of the table is familiar to me. At Cox Communications, I started the employee-funded foundation and ran the council that decided where its money went. That work taught me what the people who say yes are looking for.
So is the nonprofit’s side. I began my career working for a nonprofit. Volunteering has been part of my life since high school, and I have served on nonprofit boards as an adult. Organizations like these are so focused on the work that explaining it comes last.
They also speak to two audiences at once: the people they serve and the people who fund them. Both need to understand the same story, and that is where my work starts.
It starts with listening.
I interview you and your team about what you do, who you serve and what you hope will happen next. Then I translate it into words the people you want to reach understand.
Decisions stay with a small group, usually two or three people, so the work keeps moving. You see it nearly finished, not as a stack of rough drafts, and we refine it together.
You work with one person from the first conversation to launch. My team of designers and developers builds behind me, so your words and your design come from the same understanding of you. After launch, I stay as long as you want me to.
